The irrepressible mainstream California rock and roll band that formed in 1969 and produced a string of platinum albums and Top 10 hits throughout the ’70s will bring the house down at the Pritzker Spotlight Concert! The Doobie Brothers, who filled concert halls to the rafters worldwide, even through many changes in styles and personnel, have continued to play live the world over, keeping their fan base strong and creating new fans in each new decade. Their work is a staple of the “classic rock” format radio stations. “Rolling Stone” correspondent Timothy White describes them: “The Doobies had a formidable sound, with Simmons’ deft country-blues picking meshing with Johnstons’s thick chord riffing with an R&B bent. Underscored by drummer Hartman and bassist Shogren, the Doobies had a powerful rock-pop sound that was buoyant and blistering, mighty yet melodic.” The band’s recent album, “World Gone Crazy,” reunited founding members Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons and created another chapter of the unparalleled legacy of The Doobie Brothers. This performance is generously underwritten by The J.B. and M.K. Pritzker Family Foundation. |
