The operatic classic, "La Traviata" by Giuseppe Verdi, sung in Italian with supertitles, will feature some of the nation's finest emerging young professionals. Led by Executive Director, Christine Flasch, the great Italian masterpiece, based on the Alexander Dumas novel "The Lady of the Camellias," tells the tale of a conflicted worldly courtesan forced to give up the man of her dreams, in a story of family strife, blighted love and redeeming sacrifice. One of the most popular and accessible operas of all time, "La Traviata" is set to an emotional and melodious score, and features the Music by the Lake Festival Orchestra and Chorus. Performances are supported in part by Young Artist Underwriter Harold Hartshorne, Jr. The Sundays at 4 Series performances are underwritten in part by the generous support of the Judith and John Graff Charitable Fund.
