Ann Hampton Callaway is one of the finest singer songwriters of our generation. The New York Times writes, “For sheer vocal beauty, no contemporary singer matches Ms. Callaway.” Her talents as a singer, pianist, composer, lyricist, arranger and educator have made her at home in jazz and pop as well as on stage, in the recording studio, on TV and in film. Ann will join the Chicago Jazz Orchestra in several selections from her CD "To Ella With Love", singing Ella Fitzgerald's hit songs with her own special flair and interpretation. Not a vocal "duplicate" of the great jazz singer, Ann's ability to "scat" nevertheless rivals the great Fitzgerald herself. Her loving tribute pays homage to these great songs, as well as to the singer who made them famous.
This performance is underwritten in part by the generous support of Platinum Artist Underwriters The Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Foundation.
